Ottoman Legal Studies from the Perspective of ‘Law and Economics’ Scholarship

ILSP Visiting Fellow Boğaç A. Ergene will speak on “Ottoman Legal Studies from the Perspective of ‘Law and Economics’ Scholarship.” The talk is the next in the Sohbet-i Osmani Lecture Series organized by Harvard University’s Center for Middle Eastern Studies.

Boğaç A. Ergene is Associate Professor of History at University of Vermont. In the Spring Semester of 2014, Ergene was the Aga Khan Distinguished Professor in Islamic Humanities at Brown University. He is one of the co-editors of the Brill book-series, “the Ottoman Empire and Its Heritage.” At the University of Vermont, Ergene served as the director of Middle East Studies Program and the Director of Graduate Studies in the History Department.
