The Islamic Legal Studies Program (ILSP) at Harvard Law School is pleased to announce the position of part-time Research Editor for SHARIAsource—an online portal of resources and analysis on Islamic law, built with support from the Berkman Center and in cooperation with students and scholars of Islamic law and policy in the United States and around the world.
The Research Editor will work with the Managing Editor on research regarding issues of Islamic law, intellectual property analysis on primary sources, and metadata tagging and related online analysis for such sources. Duties may range from assisting in the management of the site’s digital content and liaising between the Managing Editor and various SHARIAsource scholars, affiliates, and external stakeholders. Arabic or other Near Eastern languages are not a requirement, but a plus. Basic familiarity with Islamic law and/or intellectual property analysis are also a plus.
The Research Editor will work 15 hours per week during the 2015-2016 academic year (9 months). The initial application deadline is September 4. Applications accepted on a rolling basis until position is filled for the Fall. Applicants will be typically notified of decisions within 1-2 weeks.
If interested, please send a CV, statement of background and interest, a short writing sample (1500 words), and two references to SHARIAsource Managing Editor Adel Gamar at [email protected].
